How to create a Strong and Unique Password?

Security

Your cybersecurity starts with the creation of better passwords. Once the bad password is exposed, all of the personal information of yours can be compromised, and if you’re using the same password at many accounts, you’re set up for even bigger problems.

Creating a better password is not difficult. In this guide, we will be covering five tips to improve your cybersecurity by passwords and keep your personal information safe.

1.Refrain from using any Personal      Information

This may seem like an obvious tip, but most people use their individual or personal information in their passwords to make them easier to remember, which makes them a target. Names and dates are easier to remember, but they’re also easier to guess. The bottom line? Don’t use any personal information in your passwords as it is easier to hack. Passwords should not contain any common phrases, names, symbols, or any dates. Using random catchwords, numbers, or symbols makes a lot safer passwords!

2.   Stop Giving Out Your Passwords

Stop giving out your passwords to any people. Most of the people treat their passwords like a candy bean. This usually happens with media platforms like while sharing streaming services or using social media accounts, two of the most important accounts of which you should keep the access secured.

Why are these two so important? Because something like a Social Media account, like a Facebook account, can grant the hackers access to many of your other accounts. Media platforms can also save your credit card information, just like your Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+ streaming account. So, the next time your friends ask for your Netflix password, think twice before giving the password.

3.   Unique Passwords on Platforms

You’d be amazed by how many people use the same few passwords for every online account they have. And what’s more serious is that many of those passwords contain personal information which makes them much easier to guess. The more unique your passwords are, the better they will be. You should try to use different passwords for every online account you have! For example, adding just one uppercase letter in a password can heighten its strength significantly!

4.   Update Your Passwords Frequently

Don’t forget to update your passwords at least once per year, or more, if you can, to make them difficult to guess. This is often a tiresome work for professionals, but what’s more tiresome and costly is trying to reclaim your information after a cybercriminal has stolen your information!

5.   Long Passwords

Longer passwords are much easier to difficult to guess, and thus, are more secure. Shorter passwords are much more accessible to hack than the longer ones. For example, look at these two passwords:

Rty@21

OR

Rty@21tiya23#

Which password as per you is easier to guess?
